Academic Search Complete tutorial
- A good starting place for most research, Academic Search Complete provides full text for more than 7,000 scholarly publications covering academic areas of study including social sciences, humanities, education, computer sciences, engineering, language and linguistics, arts and literature, medical sciences, and ethnic studies. This database does not provide opinion polls.
ALICE(Zanesville Campus Library OnLine Catalog) tutorial
- ALICE is the name for the Zanesville Campus Library online catalog. Use it to find out what materials the library owns. It lists the following kinds of items in our library collection:
- Books,
- Periodicals such as magazines, journals, newspapers,
- Note: ALICE lists title ONLY for periodicals.
- Full text articles are not available from ALICE.
- Use a research database to get full text periodical articles.
- Sound recordings,
- Video recordings.
Biography Reference Bank tutorial
- Use this database to research literary authors, writers, and journalists. Searches can be limited by gender, location writer lives, or by type of writing.
- Full text biography database containing in-depth, original profiles from Wilson Biographies Plus Illustrated, Biography Index, and full-text articles, page images, and abstracts from the complete range of Wilson databases (including biographical profiles, feature articles, interviews, essays, book reviews, performance reviews, speeches, or obituaries). It covers over 500,000 people and includes over 36,000 images.
Current Issues: Reference Shelf Plus tutorial
- Use this database to research current issues and controversial social topics. A Wilson Web database, Current Issues provides full-text articles from key publications covering a variety of current social, scientific, health, political, and global issues. The topics are chosen to make up a well-rounded overview, and are then organized by subtopic for easy access.
- The database features current articles with periodic updates, plus the option for users to do further research with predetermined searches within WilsonWeb or on the Internet. Twenty to 30 articles provided per topic. New topics and subtopics will be regularly added to the database.
Evaluating Information tutorial
- Use this tutorial to learn how to evaluate the quality of information based on evidence found in the resource being used such as a web site or a journal/magazine article. Criteria for quality information includes:
- Authority,
- Accuracy,
- Approach/Bias,
- Age/Currency.

ProQuest tutorial
- Use this database to research health and medical topics. Information provided is designed to meet the needs of students in the allied health professions and healthcare professions rather than for general public. Areas covered include nursing, allied health, alternative and complementary medicine, and consumer health.
- ProQuest Nursing provides full text to 470 titles plus indexing and abstracts for 55 additional journals.
SIRS Researcher tutorial
- Use this database to research social issues, science, health, and business topics.
- SIRS Researcher provides thousands of full-text articles on social, scientific, health, historic, business, economic, political and global issues. Articles are selected from more than 1,500 newspapers, magazines, journals, and government publications. Includes summaries of the topics and overviesw of the pro and con sides of an issue for the top 100 topics.
- Graphics, including charts, maps, diagrams and drawings, are available for many of the articles. It also includes "Today's News: Top News Stories of the Day" from Reuters News Service and "Maps of the World" with over 100 detailed maps of the United States and the world.
Topic Search tutorial
- This database contains articles from over 1,100 magazines, 150 newspapers, 400 pamphlets, 1,500 popular biographies, 800 book reviews and 15,000 public opinion polls. Good for first time researcher. This database contains suggestions for general social topics and some pre-canned searches as well as methods to identify pro and con articles.
