- Use Alice to search for any book available in the OU Libraries.
- This search includes the libraries on the main campus in Athens and 5 branch libraries.
- You can limit your search to just the books in the Zanesville Campus Library. Use the <Limit/Modify> button at the top of the screen.
- You can request books from the other OU Libraries from the computer.
- Look for the <Intercampus/Annex> button at the top of the screen.
- It will take about 3 business days for your requests to arrive at the Zanesville Campus Library.
- You may also widen your search to include all the OhioLINK Consortium libraries.
- There are over 80+ libraries in this consortium. You may request any book owned by a consortium member.
- Look for the <Request this item> link. It will take about 3 business days for your requests to arrive at the Zanesville Campus Library.

For additional information about access to full-text research databases. Use the “History” and “”Social Work” links. Note: some of these resources are available only to students on the main campus.
- Academic Search Complete
- A good research database to begin research. Replaces Academic Search Premier. Indexes nearly 11,000 scholarly and other publications covering academic areas of study including social sciences, humanities, education, computer sciences, engineering, language and linguistics, arts and literature, medical sciences, and ethnic studies. Full text provided for about 5300 of the magazines and journals.
- Arts and Humanities Journals
- Provided by the OhioLINK Electronic Journal Center.
- Searchable full-text journals covering various years from the 1990’s to the present. This link goes to a browseable list of available journals. Use it to find if we have full text access to a specific journal title. You can also use the <Search> feature to do a keyword search of the contents of all titles.

- Historical Statistics of the United States
- This resource is the standard source for the historical data of American history. HSUS provides data on social, behavioral, humanistic, and natural sciences including history, economics, government, finance, sociology, demography, education, law, natural resources, climate, religion, international migration, and trade - quantitative facts of American History.
- The fully searchable and downloadable electronic edition permits users to graph individual tables and create customized tables and spreadsheets reflecting their own particular areas of interest.
- Statistical Abstract of the United States
- Current statistics on social and economic conditions in the United States and selected international data. Also serves as a source for other data from the Census Bureau, other Federal agencies, and private organizations.
- History Journals from JSTOR
- Access to full-text journals from the first year of their publication until about 5 years ago. The most recent issues are not available because of licensing restrictions.
- Use the ILLiad service to request copies of articles 5 years or less old. The link goes to a browseable list of available history journals.
- You can use JSTOR’s search feature to do a keyword search of their contents.
- Humanities Journals (via the OhioLINK Elcectonic Journal Center)
- Searchable full-text journals covering various years from the 1990’s to the present. The link goes to a browseable list of available journals. You can also use the Search feature to do a keyword search of their contents.
- SocINDEX
- Database provides full text of journal articles, and indexing and informative abstracts for "core" coverage journals dating back to 1895, plus "priority" coverage journals and "selective" coverage journals. Extensive indexing for books, monographs, conference papers, and other sources is included. SocINDEX with Full Text features subject headings from a sociological thesaurus designed by subject experts and expert lexicographers. Searchable cited references are also provided.
- SocINDEX covers all subdisciplines of sociology, including abortion, criminology & criminal justice, demography, ethnic & racial studies, gender studies, marriage & family, political sociology, religion, rural & urban sociology, social development, social psychology, social structure, social work, socio-cultural anthropology, sociological history, sociological research, sociological theory, substance abuse & other addictions, violence and many others.
- Sociological Abstracts
- Subscription ended June 2005. For most current citations in sociology, see SocINDEX.
- Sociological Abstracts 1963-2005 is an index to research sponsored in sociology and related disciplines in the social and behavioral sciences, including anthropology, criminology, demography, education, law, penology, race relations, social psychology, and urban studies. The database draws information from an international selection of over 2,600 journals and other serials publications, plus conference papers, books, and dissertations. Records added after 1974 contain in-depth and nonevaluative abstracts of journal articles.
