  • Biography Reference Bank

  • CIA World Factbook
    • Provides concise informative profiles for over 260 geographic entities (mostly countries).
    • Each profile has the following sections: Introduction, Geography, People, Government, Economy, Communications, Transportation, Military, and Transnational Issues.
  • Country Profiles (LexisNexis)
    • News and research reports on various countries of the world, from more than a dozen individual sources. Also includes some of the most comprehensive sources of political, economic and socio-demographic information.
  • Country Studies/Area Handbook
    • This site covers more than 100 countries with full-text information from the most recent volumes of the Country Studies/Area Studies series from the Library of Congress.
    • Descriptions include information such as social, economic, political, and national security systems and institutions of each country.
    • Note that these studies were published between 1988 and 1998 and may contain some out-of-date information.
  • CountryWatch
    • Provides "country specific geopolitical intelligence on each of the 192 countries of the world. " Includes basic information on each country, constantly updated news stories, links to official websites, etc. Topics include government, economy, investment climate, and social and environmental issues.

    • Online version of the Encyclopedia Britannica; includes Britannica's Internet Guide and Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary.
  • Columbia Encyclopedia
    • Standard one volume encyclopedia.
  • Enciclopedia Universal en Espanol
    • Spanish language version of the Encyclopedia Britannica.
  • Worldmark Encyclopedia of the States
    • Provides current geographical, social, and political data, historical narrative, and statistical information on the 50 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Caribbean and Pacific dependencies of the US. Also included: data on 50 rubrics, maps, tables, flags and official state seals.
