[edit] Start of quarter procedures

[edit] How do I request a course?

Use the online course request form.

[edit] When will students be enrolled in my course?

Students are enrolled one business day prior to the start of the term.

[edit] My course says Unavailable; when will it become available?

Your courses are always available to you if you want to work on them. A course listed as Unavailable is only unavailable to students.

[edit] How can I let students know about accessing and logging in to Blackboard?

Give them the Blackboard quick start guide for students.

[edit] Student enrollment and management

[edit] I don't have any students in my class!

Students are not enrolled in courses until one business day prior to the start of a term.

[edit] Students joined my class after the start date; how do I enroll them in my Blackboard course?

Enroll students by going to the Control Panel > Enroll User and search by last name. Tick the box next to the student you want to enroll and hit the submit button.

[edit] Students dropped my class; how do I remove them from my Blackboard course?

Remove students from your course by going to the Control Panel > Remove Users from Course. You can either search by last name, or leave the text field blank and hit Search to see a list of all the students in your class. Tick the box next to the name of the student you want to remove from your course. Removing a student removes that student's discussion board posts and grades.

[edit] I can't find a student I'm trying to enroll.

Check that the student is not already enrolled; students who are already enrolled will not appear in a search to enroll new students.

If the student is not already enrolled, the student does not have an account. Contact Todd Slater.

[edit] End of quarter procedures

[edit] When will my Blackboard course stop being available to students?

To allow for students that might need to make up work, all Blackboard courses remain available for one week after the official close of the term.

[edit] I have a student that needs extra time to finish some course work; how do I make the course available when the term is over?

You can make the course available by going to the Control Panel > Settings > Course Duration and setting an appropriate end date. Be sure the course is available by going to the Control Panel > Settings > Course Availability.

[edit] How do I save or archive a course?

For records retention, Blackboard courses remain on the server for two quarters after they are offered. If you want to save an archive or backup of your course, you can do so by going to the Control Panel.

To back up content, choose Export Course and tick the boxes of the items you want to export.

To archive a course, complete with user records, choose Archive Course.

In either case, be sure to save the resulting zip file in a safe place.
