On promoting student punctuality. I address punctuality and attendance combined by giving students a small bonus (e.g., perhaps 2.5%) if they have 2 fewer absences and 2 of fewer tardies (or early departures) for the whole quarter. This seems to provide some incentive for students to be punctual/present. I’ve found that higher rewards in the past (e.g., 5%) have more of a positive effect, as one would expect.
