Google Reader: reBlog killer
Google Reader’s recent interface changes have basically eliminated the need for me to continue with reBlog, a system that lets me share selected RSS items culled from several feeds. Reading some of the comments on the new interface by users, it seems to be a pretty mixed bag as far as favor/oppose the changes. I happen to love the changes, and Reader is now the only RSS reader I use.
So, how does Reader kill reBlog? Simple: Reader allows me to tag posts and share an RSS feed of all my different tags. I’m not clear how tags differ from folders (when I imported my OPML file, folders came through as folders), but as I’m reading, I can simply tag a post with some keyword, then share the RSS feed for that tag. The only thing that Reader doesn’t let me do that reBlog does is to add comments or edit the post itself. I never used that feature anyway, so no big deal.
To share my tagged items, I can either point people to a public HTML page (http://www.google.com/reader/shared/user/user_id_number/label/tagname), or to an atom feed (http://www.google.com/reader/public/atom/user/user_id_number/label/tagname).
Sweet.

Hi Todd,
I am building a new RSS reader that I thought you might be interested in trying. I’m really interested in the opinions of Bloglines and Google Reader users. By sharing your opinion we can build the best RSS reader yet.
