Free remote desktop with CosmoPOD.com

  1. sign up with CosmoPOD.com
  2. download and install the nxclient
  3. download and run the connection configuration script from CosmoPOD.com (open it with the nxclient)
  4. play with your new KDE desktop!

I’m impressed; there is very little lag in the system; it seems much snappier than X forwarding over ssh or VNC.

CosmoPOD offers a lot in terms of software: Internet apps (browser, email, IM, IRC, RSS aggregator), office apps (OpenOffice.org), edutainment and games, and graphics.

If you’re worried about getting files to and from CosmoPOD, all you have to do is go to the File Transfer section of the site. Enter your username and password and you can upload or download files via the web.

I don’t know if I will use CosmoPOD much since I tend to keep things either on my laptop or in Gmail, but I can see how it would be beneficial to some people. Plus, I’m not too fond of KDE :).
