*plonk* lifehacker
Today I removed Lifehacker from my aggregator because I was so annoyed that I couldn’t comment on a piece. I would have been only slightly annoyed if I had been required to register to post a comment, but Lifehacker comments are by invitation only! Ohhh, how beta-web-2.0-special.
Because the Lifehacker editors want to spend more time providing great new content and less time moderating comment threads. We invited folks we trust because they’ve contributed to the site since its launch in positive ways through email tips and links from their blogs. While comments are invite-only, everyone has a fair shot to earn an invitation.
I won’t miss Lifehacker too much since it’s mainly a lame regurgitation of stuff I get from other feeds anyway.
