My trip to ITC237

14 April 2005

I visited the ITC237 class a week ago to introduce them to blojsom and blogging in general. We had some issues with the default and un-changeable settings in Internet Explorer, such that a page refresh didn’t always update the page properly.

The students basically knew what blogs were, but none really followed a blog or knew anything about RSS and syndication. In about an hour I walked them through logging in to their blog, basic blog settings, posting, and RSS aggregation with RSS Bandit and Bloglines. If anything it was rushed and I relied on the fact that these students are Internet and tech saavy and therefore should not have any problems. Of course the bigger question is whether the instructional design end of things encourages blogging or not.
