We have achieved Community Blog

31 March 2005

I finally figured out Blojsom’s internal aggregator plugin, which aggregates all blogs hosted by a blojsom install. Now the default blog is our community/summary page (here) and I created an admin blog to post notes about using blojsom for faculty and students. One nice thing about the internal aggregator is that individual blog owners can opt out of it.

One bad thing I noticed, however, is that after modifying one theme for the community blog, then switching to another theme, and switching back to the original (modified) theme, the modified theme gets overwritten, so it looks like it’s best to create a whole new theme/template for that.

We still seem to be having problems with DNS; I can access the site from on campus but not from off campus. And, the server itself is unable to resolve outbound requests.

What modification did you have to make for the community website.

I managed to activate the internal aggregation plugin and have the last entries listed, but how do you get the data of BLOJSOM_PLUGIN_INTERNAL_AGGREGATOR_BLOG_NAM and BLOJSOM_PLUGIN_INTERNAL_AGGREGATOR_BLOG_URL? I would be happy if u could send me some expample code. Thx in advancde! Hendrik

[…] A great big thanks to Todd Slater who, though he doesn’t know it, showed me how to set this up when I found this post and this post. […]
