Review: Firefox and RSS

15 September 2004

OK, I downloaded it, I tried it, and I like it!

RSS Button in FirefoxFirst, when you visit a site that has an auto-discoverable feed, you see this nice orange RSS icon at the bottom-right of the status bar. Clicking the icon reveals a pop-up of all available feeds and formats for the site; when you pick the one of your choice another dialog pops up asking you where you want to store the “bookmark.” You may want to create folders for your feeds.

Next, when you access your bookmarks, the RSS feed has a folder icon which expands to reveal the latest posts. You can even choose to open all of them in new tabs!

I’m a recent adopter of Firefox and really like it.

The new RSS feed feature and tabs are the best things to happen to browsers in some time. Shouls greatly increase the use of feeds if Firefox make greater inroads into IE’s market share.
